The Tsawwassen First Nations own and reside on hundreds of acres of land adjacent to the community of Tsawwassen. Over the years, they have negotiated a number of 100 year leases for housing subdivisions in Tsawwassen with the Corporation of Delta. Recently, the band have taken on new development projects. In partnership with private developers, Tsawwassen Shores is a residential development of over 1500 homes on leasehold land. Set on 250 acres, single family homes, townhouses and some apartments are available for sale.

Tsawwassen Mills and Tsawwassen Commons are major shopping centre developments within walking distance from Tsawwassen Shores. Expected completion is 2016. Stores will include factory outlets, restaurants, retail anchor and other amenities, located at Highway 17 and 52nd Street, en route to the BC Ferries Terminal.
